TV
Here in the UK, I’m currently working as a freelance writer, and developing two wonderful CBeebies series, Numtums and Titch Hikers. I was hired to expand both the series into a bible, develop the characters and their world, create stories and write several episodes.
I also work with production houses and independent creators to further develop their initial series ideas, and to write pilot scripts. I pride myself on bringing out the best in a series concept, ensuring the characters and world are fresh and engaging, and that there is maximum story potential for a long-running series. Above all, I ensure the series will be a ridiculously fun and entertaining experience for its target audience. I write for a broad range of age groups from preschoolers to 6-11s to adults.
I’ve written for several Australian shows including sketch comedy series The Wedge and variety-chat show Rove (winner, 2009 Logie for Most Popular Light Entertainment Program). For Rove I created comic video clips lampooning politicians and other fallible personalities, alongside writing topical comedy, monologue material, and gags for celebrity guests.
I’ve written and developed two animated pilots with the Australian Children’s Television Foundation. Kidd Kelly (co-written with creator James Kane) is about the adventures of a tin-headed ten year-old battling boredom in the outback. Time Monkeys is about the misadventures of a teenage time-travelling detention class, and is based on my high school musical You’re History.
