Comedy Festivals
It was an enormous pleasure to co-write three successful Melbourne Comedy Festival shows with the superbly talented comedian and character actress Marney McQueen.
ROSA WAXES LYRICAL (2009)
SUNBURNT COUNTRY (2010)
Marney McQueen introduces a swag of new characters, including overzealous border security officer Karen Barnes, Gallipoli-crashing backpacker Damo, carbon neutral bride Annabel Victoria Winters-Smythe, and celebrity mother of a Balinese drug smuggler, Raelene Dreggs. In Act II, Rosa the Russian Beautician dishes celebrity dirt, hosts a game of Perfect Match-ski, and wows the masses with her anthem Honour Your Bikini.
RED, HOT & ROSA (2011)
“An original and beautifully trashy parody” The Age
”This fierce, crazy, sexy, all-singing, advice-dispensing, eyebrow-shaping and full-body depilation expert is a force to be reckoned with!” The Age
“They come along rarely, like diamonds in coal dust, glittering in all the darkness… a perfectly formed comedic character with all the edges polished and rounded, the intonations and inflexions practiced until they are flawless and have the impact and presence of a high yield, nuclear detonation – 5 STARS“, Edinburgh Guide
“Rosa is impeccable, providing her audience with hilarious character-driven comedy in truly captivating cabaret style. So if you enjoy song and dance, sexually irreverent humour and more euphemisms for a Brazilian wax than you ever imagined do not miss Rosa Waxes Lyrical”, Inside Out Australia
“Marney Mc Queen is a true chameleon entertainer… she has the potential to be a leader in the next generation of brilliant one-person show performers”, Jacki Weaver
“She has the goods”, Barry Humphries
